I think the horizontal lines might be on the slab. Your mintmark does not match the known examples, http://vamworld.com/wiki/O_over_O
I’m almost certain it’s a VAM 4, do you not see the lower portion of the other O? and I’ll double check in a moment but I’m pretty sure they aren’t on the slab
Yeah I just double checked, maybe it’s the poor quality pictures but it isn’t the holder. I really do think it’s a VAM 4, the top inside is almost a dead match
I stand by it after getting better images, the lines are on the coin not the holder, and I still think it's a VAM 4
The lines around left stars 4, 5 and 6 and on the cheek are roller marks/ striations and do not add value. Some may see it as a detraction but I like them.
Planchet Striations as stated above. They are lines left in the planchet when the bar stock was pulled through the drawing table. Small burs developed on the edges of the drawing knife that left an impression in the silver. Then the blanks were stamped out of the final drawn bar stock. Those lines were deep enough that they remain in the higher points of the struck coin. I'm a lot like @Dave Waterstraat above in that I like the look of these striation lines. Here is a weakly struck 1888-O that showed quite a few of these lines. You can see some of the lines running through Liberty's upper cheek and into her hair.
Here's an 1883-O VAM-63A with a very weak strike and extreme striations. (previously posted on Insider's striations thread)
