I'd appreciate some comments about how this coin would grade out and whether or not it's a DMPL. It's been sitting in a box for about 15 years only to be discovered by me 2 weeks ago.

IMO I think the coin is a DMPL. But that coin took a beating, both the obv and the rev fields are pretty badly scratched. I'm not sure if NGC or PCGS would grade it due to all the scratches.

I'd say that proof like is a pretty good bet, the deep mirror might be attributed. Hard to say those guys are kind of stingy with that sometimes.

    Nice coin regardless....

MS63 PL would be my guess.

Mine too as the lettering on the reverse is not frosted enough and the fields are a little to marked HOWEVER a PL/DMPL from New Orleans is pretty rare with the details this coin has - must have been an early strike of the set of dies used. Very nice coin

I would say it's a cameo , there are alot of bags marks on the coin especially in the focal areaI would give it a degsignation a cameo pfl 61
