I recently went to a dealer and they had a 83 Nickel w/ Cents for $6-7 dollars. A. It looks like it's been cleaned B. VG-F Condition.

I have seen a couple of these on HA.com for going twice that price. I wonder if I should pick it up or leave it be. Opinons?

If it were me Shrek, I'd pass. Wait for something better to come along. Besides, you suspect it might be cleaned, and down the road you may find yourself dissatisfied....

Then again, the price ain't all that bad.

I would assume there was a problem with it as GS for vg is 26/28 and fine is 30/33.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Those are prices for a Shield - NO CENTS means he's talking about a V nickel (they minted both in 1883).

Personally, I would wait for an UNC example. I've seen plenty on Ebay go for $20. These are rather common in all grades, so there isn't much point in buying a VG.

Physics, look again. The original post is talking about a WITH cents coin, not a no cents. Those prices sound about right for a With cents coin. The price he mentioned in the OP makes me think the dealer erred and priced it as a No cents unless the cleaning is really horrible. and from what he said it doesn't sound like it.
