I got a closer look at my racketeer nickel that I've had for two years and was surprised to find that it has a repunched date. It kinda matches one in The Cherrypicker's Guide FS # 5¢ - 013.7 in that it has the exact same bar within the bottom of the 3, but only has a ghostlike figure of the bar in lower left of first 8. Mine also has doubling below the 1 and a die gouge or something near Liberty's eye, also die cracks atop both obverse and reverse.. What should I do with this? Here's some large pics: http://home.insightbb.com/~murpht/18832.jpg http://home.insightbb.com/~murpht/18831.jpg http://home.insightbb.com/~murpht/18833.jpg Was also looking through some other nickels I had and found 1921-s, 1924-s, 1926-s, a 1930 5-legged buffalo (FS#5¢ 017.5) and a 1955-D/S (FS#5¢ 034). Not a bad weekend at all.
Very Interesting coin. It appears to definately be a RPD but none that I show listed. I would suggest that you perhaps send your images and the coin to Ken Hill for attribution as he is the Early Nickel Attributer of CONECA. You can contact him here for details: Ken Hill PO Box 18943 Seattle, WA 98118-0943 HILLJK@worldnet.att.net
Thank you jtwax, I have sent these pictures to three different people at CONECA and after 1 to 4 days of emailing I've received no replies yet. I expect someone will get around to me soon surely. They must have a lot of email to go through or else they are all on vacation at the same time, lol. Don't pay no attention to me, I'm just being impatient. But I have asked permission to submit my coin for attribution.
