Au 58 82 O/S just guessing as I am taking short breaks working around the house getting ready for the holidays . I haven't had the chance to look it over .
I will check to see if that is part of the VAM. It does look like it but most likely part of the snarly die crack running by the MM.
AU55. Not an O/S. Can't tell if there's any repunching on the date. The die cracks through the mint mark and by the R in DOLLAR should help with attribution.
This is a late die state VAM 29a, possibly die state 4. Also known as an elite clash. The telling is in the second eight, die wear and then possible cud on the left side loop. I-2 R-6, resides in an a soap box ANACS holder AU 50, It all depends on your attitude at which way you look at this Morgan, when I took this pick it was looking like an AU55.
Is it the New Orleans Morgans that tend to have weaker strikes? I can't remember. But if that's the case, I'll go AU55.
I'm gonna say AU55. 1882-O tended to be decently struck and I see what looks like luster breaks on the high spots.
A nice AU in my opinion, likely would just miss 58 by today's standards; it would be around an AU 55 (so I'd say the Anacs grade is conservative as an AU 50).
