1882 Indian Head cent - double

    Would anyone happen to know anythin about an 1882 Indian Head cent that has doubeling completley aroun the words ''United States of America'' ?

    Look for hob or punch shoulder outline ( commonly called Longacre's doubling ) on this page near bottom, click on photo.

    This is not a form of doubled die. A punch was used, and if struck too deep, a "double outline " was produced by the shoulder of the punch. There are some other alternative arguments. It is identified by usually being around all sides of the device such as letters. Very common on IHC.
