A quick price guide check for NGC says $775, which typically is high. But it's got some toning and a green CAC sticker. Check out Heritage Auction results.
No don't crack it out! This is a solid 65 Morgan you will do better keeping it right where it is rather than shooting for a higher grade it isn't . The marks on her face and carbon spots are going hold her back. It's a sweet coin nice color but imho no more than a 65
The Red Sox and Minnesota Twins arrived in Ft. Myers last week. It's nice to have two teams here. Chris
She is attractive, pretty toning and the reverse seems to show some contrast. But the cheekbone rub will keep it out of 66 territory IMO. Value? I'd say around $185 unless I'm missing something.
Sorry, I must have typoed the registration number or just had one of my periodic brain farts. @longshot is right about the price. Still an extremely nice coin. Apologies for my malfunction.
Even if it would upgrade (and I don't believe it's worthy), it's perfectly fine just as it is. Nice solid to strong for the grade coins will always have a built-in demand that ones pushed to the limit do not. While it may seem logical to max a coin out, the reality is one can turn an otherwise fine coin into a dog that will only be of interest to uneducated plastic or deal seeking buyers due to number and price.
Thanks everyone for your input.. I will just leave her alone.. I paid $150, which I think was a pretty good price.. I kind of figured it was in 65+ condition... She will fit right in my collection.
If you're gonna pay that for a coin like this, you picked the correct example. Both the Bean and the slab are perceived as value-adders by much of the market, it's brilliantly lustrous, strongly-struck and nicely colored. This is not a losing proposition.
Not to dig up this old post again, but I finally got the coin in the mail today from the seller - and she looks even better in person.
