My grandfather gave me a stack of Morgan dollars about 30 years ago. I never really looked at much until recently. One, a 1880 micro O has the most unusual mark on the cheek of Lady Liberty,a "+" cut perfectly across the cheek. Furthermore, the 'I" in E*PLURIBUS is nearly oblitterated by what looks like a defective die mark. It almost looks like an employee at the Mint marked this coin as defective due to the "I" being stamped out to be re-run and then someone took the defective coin home. Other than these marks the coin is in excellent condition. Anybody out there have any ideas on this? Thanks.

Not sure, sounds like it could be a struck through, if you can post pics.

The + might be a mark placed on by someone a while ago. Or just a happenstance. Are they exactly perpendicular?
