Hi, I got this from a roll on ebay. I would like some trained eyes to tell me if you feel this was cleaned or not.
I got lucky finding these rolls (even if this one was cleaned). I've purchased plenty of rolls in the past but this seller hasn't sold them often so on the last 2 rolls for only 6.95 each I got pre 64 dimes and about 10 IH's along with low mint mark wheats.
Anyway all the IH's have normal coloring that you'd expect with the exception of this one. The photos I took show the actual color.
I don't know about cleaning coins and I'd never clean one myself but how can you tell if one has been cleaned. I'm leaning towards that someone took a buffer to this based on the fact the Liberty is worn.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks 1880b.jpg 1880a.jpg

Is this what a 130 year old circulated penny should look like?

Yes, it's likely been cleaned...probably whizzed or wiped in some fashion. Does that make you hate it? Not sure what you were expecting for a roll at $6.95.
    Lance.

Nope, I love it regardless. Like I said I feel lucky to have got these particular rolls.
Just wondered if it had been cleaned.
    Thanks for the reply!

Agbkyle, yep it's been cleaned, think of it this way a copper that old in circulated condition should remind you of milk chocolate for color
