I recently visited a coin shop and showed the owner this coin. I was offered $50 for it and I think that it is worth more than that (he probably intended to sell it for profit). Anyway, I was wondering what anyone here would grade this coin as and what it could be worth. Any responses would be appreciated.

I believe that the coin has EF-45 details but would only net VF-20 to VF-30 due to the rim dings! Although the coin has problems, it is a tough date and mint and you should be able to get at least $125 to $150 for it.

    Good luck...Frank

Id say VF20-30 as well. Dealer may pay probably go no higher than 50-70. IMO

I agree with some of the others. It would grade at VF-20. It has some severe rim dings. Can't tell if it has been cleaned or not. Closer, on hand inspection would have to be done for that. The pics are really bright which could be contributing to the look of being cleaned even if it isn't. Value would be around $160-$175. The guy who offered you $50 for it is a crook. I don't think I would be going back to his shop anytime soon.

I think the coin would grade VF detail wise but would net grade F because of the damage. Overall I would say the coin is worth about $80 - $90. You might find a collector willing to pay that much but I doubt you could find a dealer who pay much more than $50 or $60.

He would HAVE to sell it for a profit--how else can a dealer stay in business---if he always buys coins and never makes money on them then he would be out of business faster than he went in.

As the others have said----I think you might get a collector to pay more for it but not a dealer.
