I recently purchased this 1879-s PAF and want to know what the CT people think of my purchase. I am able to return it, but am amazed at how PL the front is, very appealing. Maybe a ballpark grade and what you would have paid for it.

Thanks in advance. I know the pics aren't the best.

At 64PL, it would be worth about $1500, but I would like to see better photos taken from directly overhead. Too often, photos taken at an angle can hide detractiing marks that may affect the grade.

It's a pretty coin and the obverse is a solid PL but the reverse would hold it back from this designation. From the photos I would say an a good day with a tail wind it might pull a 63. I would say it's an important enough coin to get graded, CDN shows bid for a 63 around $400, so depending upon your purchase price, this may or may not be good news.

I would also like to see a picture of the edge of the coin if possible. The reeding looks odd around 5 o'clock, may just be the pics.

I paid $156.33 for this coin. I will post more pictures tonight or tomorrow. I will check out the reeding, too. Almost have all my raw coins acquired to send off for grading! New PCGS member here :)
