1879-S NGC picture

    I came across this 1879-S NGC Morgan.

    Isn't NGC one of the bett    er graders?

    The coin looks flashy... but that big mark out in front of the face should keep it out of a 65 holder... that is an older holder tho... it was not graded recently.

    Yes, NGC is one of the top flite TPG's out there, I would say PCGS is a notch better. But I do agree with LostDutchman, why it graded a 65 with that bagmark on the obverse is mind boggling.

    Nice coin, ugly bag mark. I wouldn't pay a 65 price for it.

    I agree.

    Certainly not worth the $193.75 NGC places on that either.

    I'm thinking more 63/64.

    NGC did not set the price. Unlike PCGS, the price guides listed on the NGC site are not set by NGC. NGC has a contractual arrangement with Numismedia to provide the price guides.
