I just won this Morgan on Ebay. Do you think it will look proof-like?

    Thanks, Charlie

I'm surprised the slab doesn't say PL. Looks to me that it should.

Those three pictures look like two totally differant coins.

    Photoshopped?

That can't be the same coin.

Here is his description, "You are bidding on a 1879-S Morgan Dollar. This coin is ANACS Graded MS-64. This coin has awesome eye-appeal, with a proof-like field and frosty features. This coin looks much better than the MS-64 grade that it has."

Actually it could be the same coin. Taking pics from different angles and under different lighting conditions produces vastly different results.

I think this looks like a very nice borderline-prooflike 64. I think it will look even better in hand. Please update us once you're received it...Mike

Looks like the same coin to me. Just lit differently & at different angles.

I got it today and although it is not quite as proof-like as my 80-S, I think it should have been labeled PL. It is a very nice high-end 64.

I have a '79 S slabbed by ANACS as MS63. It looks very similar to your coin. Its the most prooflike coin I have. I also wondered why its not marked PL by ANACS. I wonder if it has to do with '79 S morgans generally having strong strikes, and thus being subjected to a higher standard.
