A sweet MS65 in my opinion. Not sure about if there is VAM or not - you might want to check VAM world.

It's a 3rd reverse. My grade, AU58. Looks like there is light wear on the reverse.

I will grade that one a MS64 the reverse fields seem to be minimal marks. the obveres some blemishes on the cheek area and face a couple of bag marks ,but nothing to take away the eye appeal over all a nice ms64.

There might be some slight broad struck blemish on the cheeck but I'd have to see it again to know. Meanwhile, this Morgan is everything you ever collect Morgans for. It is bold and delicate and bright and the mint mark is beautiful and clear. She has clean lines everywhere and that buzzard is ready to burst off the backside. I love this coin and seeing it made my week!

    ehhh

(struggling with this and working on it)

I see one feather that looks maybe darker than the rest of the coin. Frankly, I thought it was shadowing. Where I usually target with this large coin is the wing tips. They seem to wear fast ...

I still love this coin and if I can get it for AU money - I'm thrilled to death because this coin defies, in my opinion, standard grading and is much better than any of the MS 61,62 or even 63s I've seen.

Sometimes there are positive attributes, not just negative ones.

Ruben the '79-S is known for being extremely well struck and it is commony found in mid MS grades. 64's and 65's are very reasonable. 63's sell for not much more than melt.

Now to the picture, I have arrows pointing to the highest feathers, they are the dark ones. There are others as well. And the high points of the feathers would not be in shadow.

Use this pic to identify the feathers I mean, but look at the pic of the entire reverse to most easily see the color differences.

That lower one was the one I picked up on. I used the magnifying glass like you taught me.

If these 79-S are always so bright, I want a lot of them.

'79-S, '80-S, '81-S are all pretty much the same.

Yes, but a subtle difference. Those are frost breaks. They show up as black sometimes in pics if taken from a certain angle.

The picture starts out nice and big then when it's finished loading gets too small to look at the high spots , still a nice looking coin , did you buy that at Berks in Chicago .

No - I got that one locally and probably overpaid for it from a very old man who owns a coin shop on Avenue U and 17th street in Brooklyn.

He's kind of blind now. Years ago, he had a shop next to my Grandfathers beauty palor at the Junction in Brooklyn. I brought a Mercury Dime from him in the late or mid 70's when I was 13 or even 12. Then disappeared on me and reappeared a few years ago. I was in shock.
