I know the pics are really bad but can you give me an estimate on how much this coin is worth and is it worth getting a silver pcgs membership to get it and a few other coins graded. Its a 1878 s mint mark trade dollar.
Your pics are not opening. You don't need to have a higher priced membership to submit any coins to either TPG. They will grade the coin accordingly based on appearance, wear, damage, signs of cleaning, etc. FYI, trade dollars are highly counterfeited. My suggestion before submitting this for grading and slabbing would be to take it to a reputable dealer for authenticating.
ok but i think its real cause my grandma has had it for a while. But ill still bring it to a dealer. can u see those pics
I can see them; however, they're so blurry and small, no way anyone could tell you anything about it from them. My great grandfather had an 1861 Springfield musket for a long time too. Turned out to be a replica.
I'll explain a painless method for taking photos if you have the equipment. Most inexpensive point and shoot cameras have a "macro" feature or flower icon you can toggle to. This is used primarily to get in close to some objects and snap photos of small details, in this case coins is a great example. It's easy to do and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the results. Let us know if this is something you can do.
