Of the coins I have had for thirty years, many have been sent in to be graded and attributed of which three were of the 1878 7/8 variety. The three Vams that I have are: (1) NGC 1878 7/7 Tail feather MS 63 Vam 42 (2) PCGS 1878 7/4 Tail feather (Strong) MS 63 Vam 36 (3) PCGS 1878 7/7 Tail Feather (Strong) MS 63 Vam 41 Top 100.

I didn't start out as a Morgan dollar Vam collector, But this has reinvigorated me. This has added a whole new demension to collecting Morgan Dollars.

I really don't have a clear idea of their relative value or scarcity...

I am facinated by these varieties...and now on the prowl for more.

I am relativiely new to the world of VAM collecting. Question for VAM collectors, Are these three relatively hard to find? Easy to find? I am very curious.

I have two more 1878 7/8's to attribute. One is a 7/4 Tail Feather and the other doesn't seem to have any tail feathers showing at all.
