I have two 1878 CC morgans and have noticed the mint marks aren't in the same location. I know there are differences in some but are these both legitimate? The cc appears to be closer to the wreath in one and more centered on the other.
Without knowing much, I know the mint marks were punched by hand and have a wide variance in placement.
Ok so im still new. Im understanding the different VAM a bit. But am trying to determine this coins VAM. The mint mark placement appears to be a VAM 6. But according to vamworld it should have doubled leaves on the obverse. Which it doesn't appear to. But I don't see any other VAM with the same placement. I used a magnifier on the areas in question. I can get other pictures if these aren't sufficient.
