Let’s see what folks think the grade on this Vam-11 CC Morgan would be. I’ll probably send her in as she is raw presently.
I see it as marginal whether or not to submit it for slabbing. I think it's been cleaned. If so, then I'd place its value at about $200. Slabbing would be an expense that would not be recovered. IMO the coin would still be worth $200.
I'm gonna predict UNC details/cleaned, though I guess there's a small chance it might get a pass. Hope so.
Uh oh I'm worried this might be cleaned but it might be the way you took the photo. There's a lot of random marks and hazy stuff on the obverse, a typical sign of cleaning. If not cleaned I would say a good 63 or 64, not PL. PL needs to look like a mirror in the fields
I wouldn’t send in for slabbing. It’s been cleaned and would come back Unc, Details, Cleaned. You’d never recover the fees. Shame since in good shape otherwise, a first year issue and a CC. Enjoy her as she is.
I love Morgans yours too! To many opinions @MarkMetzger I'll keep mine out. You should do well sending it in thanks for sharing.
Those field lines definitely look raised in these photos, but if they're die-polishing lines, someone must've polished the die with the bottom of his shoe.
This is a remarkable illustration of how lighting angle can impact a person's assessment of a coin. We have the same coin showing major hairlines (or maybe die polishing, but I think this is doubtful) on a couple of images, and no trace of these lines on others. An eBay bidder would make a bid decision based on the images presented. Which ones do you think would be presented here?
I will opine MS details, cleaned; the lines to me appear to stop short of the devices; especially the patches of them behind Liberty's head. Also note how they stop before they get to the stars on the left. That's why I don't think it's die polish.
The fourth photo down, of the obverse, shows a bit patch of hairlines. I've had coins bounced back to me in body bags for less.
