1876 s trade dollar, is it counterfeit?

    I'm 99.9% sure this coin is a couterfeit. Could you confirm for me? And if so, what would be the value of it? 10 bucks maybe?

    Need better photos (sharp & w/o glare). So far, nothing looks bad.

    With the quality of the fakes today, you will need more magnified photos. Start w/the date.

    I think it's real. Why do you think it's fake? Is the weight off?

    The strike seems really high relief and the fields are all uniform in reflectivity but it isn't natural luster

    Oh it was definitely harshly cleaned but it just strikes me as a counterfeit

    So far, still genuine. Want to do an experiment? Take a photo of the entire obverse of the coin in florescent light. That's what professional authenticator's use.

    Looks like a harshly cleaned EF details genuine Trade Dollar to me.

    EF details, scrubbed. the closeups of the date and mintmark areas show crisply struck squared off letters and numbers, and the dentils are perfect. there are no pimples, granules, or gaps. that's enough for me.
