I'm not sure if this is the forum to post this in but here it goes let me know if not.
THIS 1876 MEDAL (So-Called Dollar) was engraved by George T.Morgan in 1875 for the 1876 US Centennial Exposition to celebrate the 100 year Anniversary of the USA. Some consider it our first Worlds Fair. The medal was sold at the PA mint and at the fair.
This first example in silver and in it's original "Cattleman's Wallet" ,the next is a Proof in copper, they also sold a copper w/gold gilt finish .

    Mmmmmmm, nice.
I don't do medals, but there are some that are exceptionally well done.
    That's what I see here.

I was born in Manhattan (Governors Island).
    Does that count?

    Nope, I pre-date that period.
I was born there when it was still 1st Army headquarters.

I also lived a couple blocks outside the main gate of Ft Hamilton (Marine Avenue?).
Again very early in my life.

Here are 2 medals one is a so-called dollar won on Teletrade a few years back(their picture) & the other is a proposed coin designed & engraved by George T.Morgan but never issued in intended gold, the pattern coin here is a silver example issued by a private mint.
