SeatedLib1875re.jpg SeatedLib1875ob.jpg I have a question about this coin. It is very discolored, very uneven. The light from the scanner is reflecting off certain areas and throwing off colors. On close inspection, I can see many details but the coin seems bumpy or grainy, for lack of a better term. Maybe pitted is the term I'm looking for. It is shiny in some places and dark, discolored in others. I don't know Seated Lib Qtrs. Is this natural for this coin? Can anyone tell me if this coin has been cleaned and/or over cleaned? Something about it doesn't seem natural. I am just learning to spot things on coins such as cleaning and whizzing, so I am not sure about this. Any help would be appreciated.

This coin appears to have fairly severe surface damage. Perhaps it spent a few decades in salt water before being found.

Looks like somebody had to knock the barnacles off before scanning it.

Looking at it closely it has the detail of what I would say was an F-12 or so but with such surface damage, what grade if any would it receive?

The coin is badly enough damaged such that it should not grade.
