1875 S Twenty Cent

    Is this a die crack across the top of the word UNITED and out to the right of the D, or something else? Thanks for the comments! :)

    I'd say so. Die crack with a nice chip as well above the "E".

    Thanks, would it affect any value that the coin might have?

    The value would be about the same. Someone that collects die cracks might pay a tiny bit more but that's a small group. Others may not like die cracks. I think they are really cool and actually used to collect them.

    I looked at some that were for sale on ebay and didn't find any with the same kind of marks. I would think then that perhaps, since there weren't many of this coins minted as a whole anyway, that these particular markings would be extremely rare then and the coin worth keeping as opposed to selling?

    Not really worth anymore , if large enough some collectors would pass on the coin . Me I like a nice die crack or cud , as long as it doesn't interfere with the strike .

    That might be true IF you can find someone who is collecting twenty cent pieces by die pair.
