i have two 1875-s twenty cent pieces. on one the die alignment of the reverse is rotated at an angle of about 35 degrees compared to the other. i can't find anything about this on the web or the books i have. any suggestions? does this die alignment add any value to the coin?
Well - maybe yes & maybe no. It kind of depends on the overall condition of the coin. Back then, a coin being out of alignement was not that uncommon. But there are collectors who do like to collect them. And you usually need 30 - 40 degrees of variation for it to be meaningful. Can you post a pic of the coin ?
