I have been trying to find good pics to show the difference between the 1873 open 3 and closed 3 three cent nickel and have had no luck. I thought I did but after close inspection I think the closed three example is really open.
If anybody has any good pics or links I would appreciate it.
    Thanks for any help.

Here are 3 pictures from Heritage. The closed is sharp, but the opens have lost their sharpness because I blew them up so much. Hope this helps.

Just in case, the top one is closed and the bottom 2 are open - per Heritage

wow! its easily seen at this scale that they were blown up to... but dang.. would be awfully difficult under normal conditions

    Thanks for the pics.
Man ,that can be hard to tell apart unless the pics are perfect. even the angle tends to make them look different.

I bet it becomes even harder to tell on well worn coins. Are there other indicators for the various types of coins?
