I recently bought an 1870 Indian Cent, I don't have it in hand yet, but on the reverse it looks like a die crack running almost horizontally across the coin. I've never seen one like this.
I'm trying to collect all of my Indian Cents close to VF.... except for my 1877. I couldn't afford more than a G08
Nice coin! Question? Is this a shallow or Bold "N" variety and do you collect the different varieties ( 1864 with "L" and without for example).
The reverse looks like it may have a planchet defect like delamination. From the edge to the top of the C to bottom of the E, but also on the O above the other line of C-E. I would put my guess on a lamination error.
