A nice coin, I think!, again a more experienced eye may see something different? I will say I appreciate the response to my posts and hope I’m not abusing the time and effort to reply Thanks Allan
Hello Allan! Are you looking for a grade or value. Can you explain more? Value perhaps? What did you pay for this piece? Oh! So many questions.
Hi Allan.... This was the US Mints first foray into using nickel to strike coins. And buddy did they have some headaches with the new alloy.... The shield nickel is a very interesting series, and yes you do have a very nice piece. In my book if you can see all the horizontal lines in the shield then you have a very nice piece. I would put it in the "Very Fine-Extra Fine" camp. Check it closely for die cracks. The US mint broke a lot of dies learning this new alloy. Die breaks would show up as fine raised lines on the coin.... Cool piece!
Many thanks for all the knowledge shared- again! I am getting a grip on grades for US coins, in future I will attempt one myself when posting Allan
