1867 3 Cent Piece Lamenation Error or PMD?

    Hello All. I am pretty sure this is just damage to this 3 cent piece, but wanted to double check. The reverse of the coin doesn't seem as bad as the obverse. What are your thoughts. Thank you.

    Hard to say but I'll guess damage?looks like its been in the ground.

    Thats what I was thinking;) I bought a collection on Ebay I think and the person must have been a coin hunter/metal detecting. Alot of them showed signs of being buried. It was a fun lot to go through:)

    It looks like a lamination in there. That's one real washed out coin.

    i would give a qualified Yes to lamination, but a lamination caused by PMD, so not an error.

    I have a LWH that was so badly damaged, I honestly had no idea of what it was, just that it was half dollar sized. Two days in acetone, and enough layers came off to where I could see what it was. Crazy stuff in the ground.
