1866 Three Cent Nickel

Evening all,

I just bid and won a 1866 Three Cent Nickel. I paid $12.50 for it but the one thing that I wanted to ask is they said it had a few dark spots on it. What are dark spots and do they hurt the coins value alot. Here is the link to the coin. Thanks for any opinions on this.

My feeling? The dark spots may have been left over from a cleaning that the coin endured at on time. Kind of hard to tell from the photos.....

 

not bad I sold a 66 3 cent piece for 20 so you did pretty well

Yep... I hope that you might start a collection on them. They are a pretty design and relatively cheap. I had started with a 65 and a 66 but I ended up selling both of them.My experience is the only problem with them is that they don't photograph very well.
