I recently purchased a 1866 Indian head penny on Ebay. This was supposedly certified AU-55 from National Numismatic Certification. I received the coin and from what I see it is probably no move then XF perhaps even VF - a couple of the letters in Liberty are smudged. This is not the reason for my post though. I noticed that United Stated of America is doubled. What would a 1866 Indian head penny XF DDO be worth? thanks Walt Osterberg

Welcome to the forum! I also collect IHC's - so please feel free to share some pictures.

We would need to see some pictures, but more than likely it is machine or long acre doubling. That is something that is very common on indian head cents.

welcome, and it may be Longacre doubling.
Not a doubled die, just the nature of coins with Longacre's designs.

    How about a picture?
