Purchased this coin a while back and was wondering if anyone new the value of a counter stamp that says, I believe, L BIGGLO. The date is a better year even if its not a better counter stamp. Thanks again, Ben
I did not receive my price guide with my Brunk's counterstamp book, so I can not give you a "listed" value. Brunk's lists the name as L. BIGGIO, likely Lawrence Biggio, who had a saloon at 30 W. Randolph Street in the 1887 Chicago directory. The only coin listed as counterstamped by him are 1851 Large cents (id B-658). At least two counterstamps need to be known to be listed in the book. Having the name listed usually means a higher selling price. I would guess value to be around $25-30.
