1865S quarter eagle, sadly in a necklace

    This is a newly acquired piece from an estate. If the coin can be removed safely from the setting, what do you think?

    Well usually a coin of that value and grade isn't real along with coins in necklaces but you never know... but it's probably possible to remove the casing.

    Can you remove it yes, will it show damage from the bezel 99% chance yes. Would I remove it. No

    If this coin is real the setting should be as well, usually 18 carat, not the lesser 10 or 14 carat gold.
