I have an 1864 two cent coin in which the bottom of the reverse is at 3 oclock instead of six oclock. Is this a common error? Thanks

It certainly is not uncommon. Rotated dies were much more common in that era than in the last 100+ years.

Thanks, So it dose not add to the value of the coin.

Others may disagree but I don't think a 90 degree rotation will add anything to the value of this coin. A 90 degree rotation on a modern coin would be another matter.

    Hobo's right.

Cool but not uncommon especially in 1864. I recently picked up a 180 degree rotation for no extra premium.

An1864 two cent with a 180 degree rotation is not too scarce but with a 90 degree rotation it is unusual.
