Very nice,i know nothing really of fractional currency but to me this looks upgradable by its condition and just keep it in a plastic sleeve for protection. As of value in that condition I would think not much at all.

Poor condition Joy but still collectible just for the history behind these. These were used during a major coin shortage in our country for a short time to keep commerce running. Postage stamps were also used just prior to these but got destroyed too easily so fractional notes were issued. Because they were easily counterfeited, a later version incorporated an overprint on notes to discourage counterfeiting. Best enjoy and put in a sleeve to protect it. Not much value here but interesting to be sure.

It’s probably worth between $25-$50 max.

A bit of history: I know the note says 1863, but that was just the ACT of congress that created it. If I am not mistaken, and I am sure that I will be corrected if wrong, the note was in the Fourth issue of Fractional Currency and was printed and released sometime in or after 1869. No President to my knowledge has appeared on U.S. Currency while they were still living and Lincoln wasn't assassinated until 1865.
