Howdy everyone... Working up in the Mid West (Peoria, IL) and visited a small coin shoppe...found a very nice XF+ 1863 fractional with beautiful colors for $40.00. My first fractional and I think it's pretty cool to have in the New York collection. Just wanted to share it with you all. RickieB
Howdy Roy... Do not have my camera with me..but I will post this one when I return home on Friday. Hope all is well with you.. RickieB
I have an almost complete fractional collection (not counting specimans). There are really neat to look at... of course even in these small value notes, they had variations lol.. go figure. the one you have - its the first issue with the 5 - 5cent stamps? do you know the friedberg number?
Howdy Daggerjon...I wish it were the first issue.. but it is not. It is the 4th issue. I am in the Indy Airport as I type and will post a pic tomorrow. Sounds like you have some nice notes...please post some pics for us to see. RickieB
Hello Everyone.... Just got home from my trip...here is the 4th addition 25 cent note from New York... Let me know what you think. FR#1301 RickieB
Rick, that is a very nice banknote.I have got 2 of the Canadian 25c. notes (1900 & 1923) in my collection. Aidan.
then the date would be 1869 to 1875 lol. I got the first issue when you mentioned the date was 1863 ... either way, lovely note!!!!!
Daggerjon... You are correct..the notes were first approved to be printed 1863....Look at the top of the note and you will see this. I startrd reading after I bought the note..now I know.. RickieB
yes, that can be confusing if you have never read up on these notes. There are some fractionals that the only way to tell the difference in some of the notes in an issue, is to measure a design element on the note. Look at fr1308 and fr1309 lol I think i have one of each of them, but my eyes just arent that good
