    First off great site everyone!

I came into possesion of 2 1862 100$ confederate bills. After searching around the internet I have come to the conclusion that they are t41's. Both of these bills are unstamped and grade au- unc. My question is regarding the lack of stamp. How does this affect value of the bills? Is it rare? I know for a fact they are original for the simple fact they were handed down from generation to generation in my family. Iam extremely new to paper currency always been a coin guy. Sorry for the lack of pics my camera is on the fritz. Any info would be much appreciated!

    Thanks
    Sean

Sean, welcome aboard. With the banknotes of the Confederate States of America, you have to be very careful,as there are some very deceptive forgeries around, especially of the higher values ($50 upwards).

    Sean,

I have to agree with Aidan! Very few higher value notes survived in that condition and many in that condition are forgeries. You might want to take them to a trustworthy Coin Dealer to have them checked. He/She can check the print to see if it is a forgery done with a Dot Matrix printer or if it is in fact a genuine note!

Thanks for everyones input! I agree I have to get them checked for authenticity but they have an unusual story that makes me think they are indeed real. Without getting to long winded the bottomline is My great-grandfathers best friend was Patton's medic for years. It's such a crazy story that I understand it may be hard to believe. Anyways thanks for the input all.

But just for giggles if they indeed were real what would be the rough price? Again they are unstamped (never collected?)

    Thanks for all the help!

Are the signatures in Black ink or are they signed with Brown ink ?

Black ink is a sure sign of them being fake. If they are real they would have been signed in Brown ink.

    good luck -

Oh & welcome to the Fourm !
