Im new to coin collecting and recently came across a 1861 confederate half dollar. I have found out that there are several restrikes of this coin, the original 4 were minted by a fellow by the name of Taylor, as far as i can gather in my research. I left the coin in my drawer for several weeks until I glanced through the E-bay auctions of coins and noticed one of these coins selling for two MILLION dollars. At that substantial sum I again removed the coin from my sock and took a closer look. On the heads side of the coin there are two small strike marks, that I cannot find in any of the pictures, including the pictures of the originals, these marks are about the size of a fingernail, one directly above the nice ladies head, and ojne imediatly to the left of the date, immediatly to the right of the date is a struck T. In addition, I have discovered that the restrike of this coin has a full bow on the tails side, on the tail side of this coin, there is no bow where the tobaco and cotton fronds cross on this coin. I am unfortunatly unable to post effective images of this coin at this time, if mroe details are necasary, I will be as helpful as I can, however, Im not a very good coin collector. I live in North Alabama, if anyone knows of an expert nearby, that would be helpful. I did a search for coin forums and this was the first link that came up. Again, I am sorry for any deficiency in my information, my sole question here is this: Is this an original or a reprint, and if you guys cant help me, can you tell me who can?

Welcome aboard,Rusty. You have definitely got a lead forgery of the Confederate States of America $1/2,that is if it appears a dull grey colour. If it is any other metal, then it is a souvenir medal. Aidan.
