Take a close look at this Indian Head. I see some doubling just about everywhere. It is especially evident in some of the lettering and the feathers on the obverse. What does this look like to you? Any advice is appreciated. I just got this coin today and it was not labeled as anything special. Maybe a lucky find?

Longacre doubling appears on practically all IHCs.

    thanks again.

After reading up on Longacre and Strike Doubling, I have a feeling that this could be strike doubling. The "doubling" only appears on one side of the letters as if it was rotated.

Would something like this make a coin more valuable?

A couple of other things I noticed with this coin......

-It is not struck in the center of the planchet. Looking at the obverse side, it seems to be very slightly shifted to the left of center.

-If you can blow up the picture of the reverse, you can see on the shield, what appears to be sets of 4 vertical lines, not three. ( I guess this is the same scenario as the doubling seen on the front)

I wish I could post the highest quality scans, as you can see more detail.

I do believe that is MD. Is it a rounded or pointed bust?

I am pretty sure it is a pointed bust. The bottom of the bust is very straight, not curved. From other examples I have seen, the rounded bust has a slightly curved bottom.
