This is one of those situations where I don't like Coin Facts because they don't show examples of the errors they tell you to look for. Can someone please tell me what to look for when looking for an inverted date? What are your thoughts on this coin from condition & grade.?. Thanks Darryl
It is an absolute load of rubbish & you should send it to me for disposal LOL Seriously, very nice bit worn & some edge knocks but not too badly, I would be happy to own it
Thanks Steve, I'm very happy to own it and NO you cann't have it :goofer: - This little piece of rubbish will be in an air-tite by tomorrow locked away in my safe. - I just have to figure out what is meant by inverted date and how it would grade. First Half Dime I've ever held in my hand let-alone own . Regards, Darryl
Does it not mean that the date or part of the date is applied upsidedown first then re struck the correct way?
Not too sure, I will take a look at my books when I get home tonight but they don't always describe thes errors well either.
OK, I was working on a close up of the date when my wife called me over to see the sunset. I'll catch the date in the morning :smile . Have a great night folks...
Darryl: There is a clear picture in Cherrypickers Guide, also in Breen #3091. look about halfway down on the date (between the digits). 1 & 8; 8 & 5, 5 & 8. you will something that looks like little scallops. That is the bottom of the inverted date. Good luck.
Thanks Frank. Under 8 times mag I cannot see anything. The best I can do with the camera doesn't really show anything. This is one of those times I wish I had a microscope. LOL- Probably nothing to see but a worn date. Darryl
