1858 flying eagle.ms?..spot?

    this was bought back in the day.it was marked bu++.is it mint state?
    also i wondered what the mark above the n is.i assume its post mint
    but i cant figure it out..so any opinions are appreciated...i wanted to get this slabbed if its worth it...pics shoulda been bigger..thanks in advance...

    The coin looks like an AU with a spot from corrosion above the N on the reverse. I would not certify this coin, but others might.

    That spot is the onset of corrosion. That cent definitely surely looks au to me with slight wear evident on the eagles breast. Nice specimen but not sure if it would grade or not. I certainly would not be surprised to see it come back Au58, nor would i be surprised if it got BB'd. I would say it depended on the mood of the grader on that particular day.
