Looks pretty nice to me probably uncirculated but more importantly the date looks very doubled to the right and the right wing as well. I can't find any other varieties like it. So, is it a DDO? Any idea on the value of this coin? Thanks
Can you post a better pic of the reverse? From that picture, it looks worn which would indicate it's not in "uncirculated" condition unless it's just the picture itself causing it to look that way. Also, you're title says 1857 but the coin itself is an 1858 clearly. This looks to be a DDO 1858 Large Letters Flying Eagle.
Well, all the evidence is there that this is a DDO Flying Eagle. Change the date in your main header and try to rotate the photos next time...I have a kink in my old neck
Sorry about the typo on the title. I tried to change it but it will not let me. Here is a better picture of the reverse.
That's a much better picture for the reverse. Looks good although from the pictures it seems to me that this coin might have been cleaned at one time or another. I'd give it an AU grade. Maybe it's the lighting though giving me that impression. Regardless though, very nice coin.
Nice FE with a very nice overdate! I can't find anything quite like it for an 1858 in my big 700 page book of attributions and varieties by Rick Snow.
