    Hello All,

I have an 1857 Flying Eagle penny, and it seems like it's too silver in color. My question is:

Do you think this cent have been re-processed? Also, what do you think the value is?

    Thanks for your time!

The date looks weird, and the reverse is a little too sharp in my opinion

Really hard to tell with the scans. Possibly heavily polished?

I would grade it 40 or 45 but it has been messed with in some way. Not sure from the images.

If by "reprocessed" you mean plated, then yes, I'd say it's been reprocessed.

It has strong details - XF, IMO - but plating a coin is probably the best way to destroy its value. A coin that was run over by a train three times would probably be more desirable than a plated coin.

Nice detail, but polished to an unnatural shine and color. Thanks for sharing!

    I'd say just harshly cleaned.

I don't know about that. My dime was only run over once, and I would rather have the OP's coin.
