1856 large cent, slanted 5 variety

    Just a basic medium brown circulated example. The slanting 5s were an idiosyncracy of engraver Christian Gobrecht's work.

    This coin has been added to my giveaway stack. It will be one prize option in Giveaway #107.

    I just quickly attributed the coin. 1856 Italic 56 N-14 die state B, R-1. Its a little bit harder to attribute the later date coins but this piece thankfully still had some die markers intact.
