1855 Large Cent - Slanted 5's

I picked up my first large cent from a guy on Coin Bug the other day. What do you think?
(images are quickie scans since it just got here 5 min ago., the white specs & thin white lines are from the 2x2)

Nice old Large Cent! IMHO, it appears to be an AU-50 to AU-55. It is possible that it had a light cleaning well in the past. This is evidenced by the lighter than normal fields than what would be expected on a coin of it's age. Also, due to the dirt in and around the Lettering, Date and details and none of consequence in the fields.

Great looking coin.:thumb: I would say depending on the strike I would go with xf. It looks like wear on some on the leaves and her curls, but with the toning it's hard to tell if it's wear or a weak strike.
I would be proud to own it either way.

 

Nice Au coin - I think a definite AU50/55 with a very light cleaning. Really nice coin!

Very nice. That is exactly the grade I look for in that coin, its a fun series to collect.

 

I think its a great coin! Looks like an original AU-50 to me.
