You know sometimes you go a long time before you make a find...as a variety collector you do have some good finds, mostly when your funds don't align. However there's also varieties that you have hunted ,that somehow become your "white whale" mine still a 1858 rpd half dime either of the two be nice. But then you do get to hunt other varieties too while you sort though you needs.... realizing that there are quite a few to hunt down. Last December I got lucky searching though some seated half dimes. I ran across a top 100 vatiety an 1855 o V-2 b Heavy reverse die crack @ small cud , with a mintage of 600,000 this is so rare no R number has yet been asigned ,somewhere in the <10 known specimens to exist today. Last week luck smiled again as I found another "Top 100 varieties" listed for the <1855> p h~10 . #73/100 V- 4a bisecting die crack on the Reverse. This is again without an Rariety value R= ? As only < 15 specimens known. Since I have been having so much luck with the <1855> date I went hunting again this morning and found this ...a V-7 DDO-001 Doubling seen on the horizontal bars on the shield Liberty, as well outside of shield. If that last image is yours of the coin you bought, it doesn't appear to match the reference photos. I don't see the doubling below the shield ribbon and the bottom seventh stripe is higher than it should be. The refence photo shows it being weaker and clearly separated from the sixth stripe.
