I'm new to coins and find it difficult to tell which grade it is.

    Thoughts on this one?

    Thank you

    PS: It's upright 5's I believe.

    PPS: The year is 1855!

Looks to be about a VF-30 coin. Still have plenty of hair detail and the tip of the coronet isn't all worn out. There's some verdigris on the reverse that needs some attention asap. There's nothing worse for a copper coin than corrosion.

I was going to say VF 20 but I think I grade harder on these since I collect them.

You can edit the title or any part of your post for 24 hrs, BUT if you use the "edit post" which comes up ( quick reply format) you can't change the title. You must then check the "Advanced " which does allow changing the title. If it is over 24 hrs, when you notice, report it to a mod and we will change it for the original poster.

Thanks for the grading and changing the title

I paid a total of $26 for it (including postage)

I will take care of the verdigris
