Here is a PCGS AU-58 1853 dime. Mike(leadfoot) appropriately chastised me last week for settling on my last arrows/dime purchase several threads/weeks back...soo, I purchased a nice quality coin. My other one had good details and nice toning, but appears to have been dipped. I'm not willing to pay MS values for seated coinage, but a nice AU-58 is a perfect comprimise.. This coin is mostly white with some nice orange gold toning hues around the periphery, and has LOTS of luster. Opinions?
A nice coin...Although it is always hard to tell if you have an original coin or not... Yours looks very nice, and if it is original, has lots of luster, that is for sure! Nice coin!
Yeah, definitely has a lot of luster. I suppose it may have been dipped or lightly cleaned; but not enough to affect the luster significantly. It's definitely much nicer than my last one, or any of my seated dimes for that matter.
Nice ! Does it show any cartwheel ? Looks like it does, particularly on the reverse. If it was ever dipped, it was very light. Looks great.
Very nice! You know the only thing I dislike about the seated coins - are the arms. The remind me of when my brother got stung by a bee - where ever it was would swell up like that. It was almost funny. Still this is a very nice coin! I like subtle toning on coins.
Sure does. Full on cartwheel on both sides. lol...yeah. When I was younger, I used to think that most of the liberty coins had male models.
great coin, just how a high-au should look. Congrats, and I don't think you'll be second-guessing yourself about this purchase.
