For some reason I have taken a liking to Large Cents most recently. Love the look of older copper. Opinions? My camera is a nikon coolpix 8.1 MP with macro enabled. The top two photo's are taken during the day under a 180 Watt bulb. The bottom two are in natural sunlight. The difference in color of the coins is amazing, the photo's taken inside make the coin appear to be recolored. Harry
Nice coin! If you used the same piece under the coin in both photos, the color balance is the problem. It appears the default is outdoor light as you get the pure white color on the background. You can adjust the color balance when indoor to tungsten or fluorescent until the background also appears white rather than the beige-orange color. My canon has a function where I fill the view with the blank card and clik, it then sets the color balance to this setting for white until it is over ridden or I have to change batteries. Jim
Sweet! :thumb: Looks like a N-22 to me: http://img401.imageshack.us/my.php?image=n22al0.jpg If you're going to collect BHC's, you'll want to get Bob Grellman's book (1852 N-22 page above). You can get it directly from him, if he has any left: http://www.largecents.net/books/latedatebook.html Ribbit Ps: The reason it says N-22 & N-9 is because they figured out that a N-9 was a die state of N-22 and delisted the N-9.
Nice coin! Which color is closer to the real color? To me it almost looks recolored in the first and coated or something in the second. It is still a nice coin. I like the die cracks that can be seen in the first set of pictures.
