Can I get any info on this coin? If I were to ebay it, what specs would I put down. (I know nothing of coin collecting) Appreciate any help. Thanks! Nancy Also view coin here http://www.royrivers.com/coin.jpg
I'm not great at grading U.S. coins, but I would call it Extra Fine, because the "Liberty" headband is completely readable, but I don't see any luster in the picture. If it is there but not picked up by the camera, it could be About Uncirculated. It's 1.672 grams of .900 gold, .04837 oz. of pure gold, with a bullion value of less than $20. It's one of 2,045,351 struck at the Philadelphia mint (no mint mark). Current retail value according to the 2004 Red Book would be $145 in EF and $160 in AU, but the Red Book is somewhat out of date by the time it's published, so maybe someone more familiar with U.S. gold will come along and help you price it.
Well the coin certainly would grade XF. Looks like it may have a little damage near the star on the bottom left. Can't quite tell in the photo. If it is just in the pic, here is how I would list that particular coin for retail. 1852 Type-One $1 Gold Sharp XF details If you are going to list this coin on Ebay start the bidding at $150. That is a fair starting price.
Thanks for the input! Appreciate your help. I just want to make sure I list it appropriatly so as not to mislead potential buyers. As I said, i dont know much about coins. Thanks again Nancy
