Like I mentioned before, I won this lot of "dateless" 3 cent silver coins but seem to be able to date them. All the other lots of 3 cent silvers that were dated were all sniped by the same guy even though they were all the most common dates and not in great condition. This looks like 1851 since the last digit is present and it is type I. Would you agree?
Absolutely ... 1861 and 1871 are type 3s. This is type 1 (no leaves on thenreverse, no outlines on the star, etc.) BTW this isn't "not great" it's terrible.
Nice type coin for a budding yn Some of those more advanced collectors must forget what it was like to be young and experience the thrill of acquiring a new type on a minimal budget. Don't let some folks detract from your accomplishment. That coin is not as dateless as expected, and that's awesome. Good for you!
