In the past I used to focus on these $1 gold coins and I found out that 1849 is a super popular year! It's a gold rush year so even silver 1849 coins are in demand. Prices for these gold dollar coins are normally high, like $300 high on the bay, that's today's prices. The problem I found looking for this year is my LCS never had any so I was always on feebay for awhile. It's extremely painful to pay ebay prices especially since you could get a quarter eagle, not the same year but I'm talking about weight here, for the same price as these 13mm coins, 1.5 grams! Unfortunately, you can buy gold coins by weight from a dealer, but not on ebay! Anyways, I stopped collecting 1849's a number of years ago and this is the last one I bought, it has an "L", just my luck! It's not in very good condition but that's okay as it's definitely scarce with the "O"! If you have any gold coins, please feel free to post em' here if you want!
